Answer :-

  • Acidic salt: The pH value of an acidic salt is less than 7. Basic salt: The pH value of a basic salt is more than 7. Sodium chloride is called as common salt. It is obtained from evaporation of sea water.

The pH of an acid that is used in the formation of common salt falls between 1 to 3.

  • Common salt is formed as a result of the neutralization reaction along with water. A neutralization reaction involves the reaction of an acid and a  base which forms salt as their byproduct along with water.
  • Common salt is chemically sodium chloride (NaCl) which forms when strong acid like hydrochloric acid (HCl) reacts with a strong base like sodium hydroxide (NaOH).
  • The reaction occur is as follow:

        HCl + NaOHNaCl + H_{2}O

  • Here, HCl is a strong acid and the pH of the acid is always less than 7. But as the HCl is a strong acid so, the pH will lie between 1 to 3.

Hence, the pH of an acid will lie between 1 to 3.
