The primary characteristics on which the first division of organism is made is that whether the organism are PROKARYOTIC or EUKARYOTIC

Prokaryotic:

These organisms have primitive and incomplete cells. Size of a prokaryotic cell is generally small. Nucleus is absent.. it contains single chromosome. Nucleolus is absent. Membrane bound cell organelles are absent. Cell division take place by Fission or budding.

Prokaryotes include archaebacteria, bacteria and cyanobacteria which is called blue green algae.

Eukaryotic:

Eukaryotic have advanced and complete cells. Size of a Eukaryotic cell is generally large. Nucleus is present. It contains more than one chromosome. Nucleolus is present. Membrane bound cell organelle such a mitochondria , plastids endoplasmic reticulum , Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, peroxisomes, e.t.c.are present. Cell division occurs by mitotic and meiotic cell division.

Eukaryotic cells are found in unicellular or multicellular plants and animals.
