Heya friend

Sheena here...

So Prime meridian...

Before I tell you about it let me clear that there are many imaginary lines which run throughout the Earth. They are known as Latitudes and Longitudes. Latitudes run horizontally and Longitudes vertically.

Each Latitude and Longitude have a constant value.

So Prime Meridian...

Prime Meridian is a longitude not a latitude. It is the imaginary line which divides the Earth into to equal vertical parts that is Eastern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere. The value of this Line is 0 degree. This Line runs in Greenwich,London,England.

I hope you understood the meaning of Prime Meridian.

Importance of Prime Meridian is just that it divided the Earth into two Hemispheres (Eastern and Western). Another reason can be that its the starting point of starting the degrees as it is 0.

Hope it helps
