According to the principle of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. It only changes from one form to the other.

The principal of conservation of energy is one of the most important ways that we’ve come to understand how everything in universe interacts with everything else. While it’s certainly true that overall in the amount of energy in the universe will remain constant (so no more is created, none is “destroyed”), there’re more useful implications. Any conservation law (momentum, energy, mass, charge, etc) means that the amount of something in a particular system for a particular set of time is going to remain constant.
