Answer:
A centrifuge works by using the principle of sedimentation: Under the influence of gravitational force (g-force), substances separate according to their density. Different types of separation are known, including isopycnic, ultrafiltration, density gradient, phase separation, and pelleting.

- Particles of còlloid can pàss through filter paper, therefore a còlloidal cannot be separated by filtration. However, they get separated by a special technique called Cèntrifugation.
- Cèntrifugation is used to separate cólloidal particles from solution.
- Cèntrifuge is a device used to separate liquids from solids by spinning.
- Cèntrifugal machine's are cómmonly used for this method.
- The machine can be rótated either by hand, i.e. mànually or elèctrically.
- This method is basèd on the principle that, the dènser pàrticles are fórced to the bóttom and the lighter pàrticles stay at the top when rótated rapîdly.
Cèntrifugation technique is used in :
- Diagnóstic labòratories for bloód and urinè tests.
- Washiñg màchines to squèèze out water from wèt clothès.
- Dairies and homes to sèparate butter from cream.
