Hi,

Thanks for asking the question.

Here is your answer:-

A thermometer is a device which is used to measure temperature of a body. It is very useful. It helps us in knowing the temperature of our body.

The normal thermometer which we use, in our daily life, is filled with mercury. The principal used in any thermometer is expansion and contraction of liquid, i.e. mercury, according to the increase and decrease in temperature. When the temperature of body increases then mercury expands while when temperature of body decreases mercury contracts. The thermometer us labelled in any particular scale. This let us know the temperature of the body.

Hope my answer helped you.
