The probability of getting a subset of 3 elements from the power set of C is 1/4.

Given:

A= {x : x is a prime number less than 11}

B = {x : x is an integer such that 2 =< x <= 8}

To Find:

The probability of getting a subset of 3 elements from the power set of C.

Solution:

A = { 2 , 3 , 5 , 7 }

B = { 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 , 8 }

C = A∩B

C = {2, 3, 5, 7}

Power set of C = 2^4 elements

Power set of C will have 16 elements.

Given , the number of elements in a set C is 3 will be {2,3,5}, {2,3,7}, {2,5,7}, {3,5,7}.

Therefore, probability of getting a subset of 3 elements from the power set of C = \frac{4}{16} = \frac{1}{4}.

The probability of getting a subset of 3 elements from the power set of C is 1/4.
