The movement of solvent from the region of lower concentration of solute to the region of it's the higher concentration through semipermeable membrane. such a phenomenon is called osmosis.

Osmosis is a type of diffusion of water.
Let be more clear to the concept-
As we know that we have a plasma membrane in cells which is made up of fats and proteins and the membrane is also called as selectively permeable membrane because it only allows some materials to enter and exit like CO2 ,water, O2 , these all substances move in the cell and out the cell when the concentration becomes higher at a point. CO2,O2 and other gases but -
The movement of water molecules through such a selectively permeable membrane is called osmosis.
