Honey is mostly composed of carbohydrates like fructose and glucose. Honey contains about 38% fructose. 

However, Picric acid is used for detection of Potassium in honey. Honey is taken in a test tube. Then, the Picric acid solution is added. The occurrence of yellow precipitation indicates the presence of Potassium.

Moreover, Presence of other minerals like iron and calcium can also be detected through different tests.
