What is the proof for the formula that 1/2(x+y) is a rational number between any two rational number x and y???
Explain in detail for the proof....

Step-by-step explanation:

x-1/2(x+y)

=x-x/2-y/2

=x/2-y/2

and

1/2(x+y)-y

x/2+y/2-y

=x/2-y/2

Hence difference between  x and 1/2(x+y) and 1/2(x+y) and y is same

hence x , 1/2(x+y)  and y are in AP

hence 1/2(x+y) is in middle of x and y
