In a typical experiment, calcium carbonate precipitation was performed in a desiccator of 21, 11.5 or 3 dm3 internal volume at 25 ◦C, for 24 to 72 h. A 9 cm diameter petri dish with a height of 1.2 cm was used as a crystallization vessel. An aqueous 25 mL reaction solution of composition 10 mM CaCl2.
