We can say that at a given temperature, rateis equal to the rate constant of reactionwhen concentration of the reactant in unity. Thus rate constant is also known as specific reaction rate. Thus rate constant is equal to rate of the reaction when concentration of each of the reactants is unity.

The rate of a chemical reaction is defined as the rate of change in concentration of a reactant or product divided by its coefficient from the balanced equation.
