A body of water, or the atmosphere develops pressure from the weight (height) of liquid or gas above any point. That means that ‘up-push’ of the pressure increase with the depth. As a body is pushed into the fluid, it pushes back more and more due to this pressure. The upward push is what we call buoyancy and it is also proportional to the weight of the fluid displaced.
