In electromagnetism, permeability is the measure of the capability of a material to help the creation of a magnetic field within itself. It is also known as distributed inductance in Transmission Line Theory. So it is the degree of magnetization that a substance obtains in response to an applied magnetic field. Magnetic reluctivity is the reciprocal of magnetic permeability.
