Generally heat and work both are denoted bye joules in thermodynamics as

●SI unit=joules(j)

●cgs unit =erg

˙.˙ (j) can also be written as - Newton meter (N-m)

as one newton is -kilogram meter per second square (kg-m/sec²)

and CGS unit of-kg=gram,m=cm,sec =sec

.˙. SI unit of heat (N-m) =(gm-cm²/sec²) in cgs system(erg)

i.e erg= gram centimeter squared per sec squared.
