Photons (light particles) are emited when an electron jumps from a high energy state down to a low energy state. An example of this is when an electron moves down from the outer orbital down to its inner orbital a photon is emitted.

Light is the result of electrons moving between defined energy levels in an atom, called shells. When something excites an atom, such as a collision with another atom or a chemical electron, an electron may absorb the energy, boosting it up to a higher-level shell.

The fundamental unit of matter is called atom.

And the light define three theories.

1)particle theories:according to the particle theory of light the stream of particles and can propagate along a straight line with higher velocities .the fundamental particle is known as light.

2) wave theory:a narrow band of electromagnetic radiation that can cause the sensation of sized in our eyes is called light.

3) quantum theory:according to the quantum theory light is considered to the bundle of energy that can propagate along a straight line with velocity.
