What is the rheostat and variable resistance?

Actually Rheostat is a Variable resistance, it means we can change the value resistance in the circuit..

According to Ohm's Law -> V = I x R or R = V/I

As per above relation...By Changing resistance in a circuit We can control the flow of electric current in circuit...

If u increase the value of resistance, current starts decreasing and vice versa..
You can undrrstand this as when increase the speed of ceiling fan by regulator , on that time we actually changing the resistance i.e, decreasing the resistance as a result current in a circuit increases and fan rotate faster...

So simply Rheostat is a variable Resistance which is used to control the amount of current in the circuit...
