What is the role of CaF₂ in metallurgy of aluminium?

For the extraction process, the material is heated up so that the ore can be extracted from the base metal.


However, aluminium is not a good conductor of heat and electricity that makes it difficult us to extract it.


Hence, we use the CaF2 so that it can decrease the alumina melting point and can help in the improving electrical conductivity.
