A third function of civil society is to promote political participation. NGOs can do this by educating people about their rights and obligations as democratic citizens, and encouraging them to listen to election campaigns and vote in elections. ... Without this deeper culture of accommodation, democracy cannot be stable.

The main role of citizens is to vote
they participate in the desicion making of the country
they can satnd and compete in elections
they can form their own ploitical party
if they are opposing something they can start a movement
citizens have to work for the devlopment of the democracies because the democracy is for the people by the people and from the people.

The key role of citizens in a democracy is to participate in public life.

Citizens have an obligation to become informed about public issues, to watch carefully how their political leaders and representatives use their powers, and to express their own opinions and interests.

Voting in elections is another important civic duty of all citizens. But to vote wisely, each citizen should listen to the views of the different parties and candidates, and then make his or her own decision on whom to support.

Hope it helps you :)
