Answer:

Robin and Rafe demonstrate what happens when magic falls into the hands of someone who does not completely understand it and end up misusing it. Their desires are encapsulated by the limited knowledge they have of the world they are living in. They are in the same essence as Faustus’ sexual desires for the Helen of Troy.

The clown says that if he has to give up his soul for the sake of food, he would only do it if the mutton is well-roasted. This is undeniably funny but also showcases how degenerative Faustus has become. He is willing to sell his soul for power while the clown just wants some food.

The manner of Faustus’ dealing with the horse-courser is comical yet appalling. It shows how far Faustus has fallen as a man, who could have had a lot of money by his necromantic powers, is now deceiving a horse-courser for measly money.
