the main role of haemoglobin is to bind with gases and transport them throughout the body.It is a pigment present on RBC's .For eg. It binds with oxygen to make oxyhaemoglobin and then transports it from the alveoli to other tissues likewise it also transports carbon dioxide from tissues to alveoli. It also transports many other gases like carbon monoxide
