What is the role of leguminous plants in the nitrogen cycle?

the nitrogen in the atmosphere can not be absorbed directly by the plants and trees . so in the root nodules of leguminous plants there is a bacteria present which is called rhizobium it helps in absorption of nitrogen from the soil creating a major role in nitrogen cycle
