Samyukta Maharashtra movement was led by the Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti.
The movement lasted for 5 years, and was detrimental in the formation of Maharashtra.
It invovled many political parties, and Uddhavrao Patil was one of the prominent leaders of the movement.
They questioned the political leaders of the country, and demanded Mumbai as a separated city from Maharashtra.
As a result, Marathi speaking state was partitioned as Maharashtra.
