Jawaharlal Nehru was the architect of modern India who served as India's first primeminister for first seventeen years of Independence.He made a significant contribution in Indian history:
His contribution in freedom movement::
Jawaharlal Nehru was one of the stalwarts of Indian National Movement, who was a deciple of Mahatma Gandhi who spent close to decade in prison.
He brought different dimensions in freedom movement:: Jawaharlal Nehru attended Brussels Conference in 1927, where he realized that socialism is the best practice for India. He saw the changes in Soviet Union with his own eyes and after his return to India he became a self proclaimed socialist. He along with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was active in promoting socialist ideas and were chief propogator of the poorna swaraj.A Brilliant Author:: Jawaharlal Nehru penned three classics first Glimpses of World History from the Naini Jail, then An Autobiography and at last from the Ahmednagar fort ,The Discovery of India, all the three books are reflection of his majestic intellect.
A great Orator:: In the provincial election of 1937 Jawaharlal travelled the length and breadth of the country, people all over India came to listen him. He used to get massive reception every where. He used to move crowds with his speeches. He repeated his charm in the first general elections too. His famous speech Tryst with Destiny at the mid night hour of 15 August is considered by many as one of best speeches ever. When Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated he gave an extempore “The light has gone out” which too speak volumes about his oratory.

He along with Dr Ambedkar , Sardar Patel, Dr Rajendra Prasad and Maulana Azad played a significant role in the making of the constitution of India. He moved the objective Resolution on 13 December 1946, which became the light for our preamble. He added three major committees too.
A Democrat:: Jawaharlal Nehru was a democrat to core. He was a parliamentarian who attended every sessions of parliament, he kept people within his party and opposition together. His first cabinet had five ministers who were not from the Congress party , including:Dr BR Ambedkar as law ministerDr Shanmukkham Chetty as finance ministerDr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee as industry minister.
