On the occasion of completing three years by the Modi government, the Ministry of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences organised a press conference in Delhi today to list out the key initiatives undertaken during this tenure. Initiatives like Swastha Bharat, Digital India, Smart Cities and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan were mentioned at the conference. Dr Krishnaswamy Vijay Raghavan, Secretary Department of Bio-Technology said that role of science and technology has strengthened Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Mr Vijay Raghavan emphasised on the need of having waste-to-energy plants and said that many companies have started to reuse their waste to generate energy. He also mentioned that many oil manufacturing companies are taking up the waste-to-energy projects in collaboration with the government.
The Ministry of Science and Technology is working towards applying biotechnology to tackle the issue of water contamination. New technologies are being tested out to clean the flowing sewage.
