The prostate gland is a male reproductive organ whose main function is to secrete prostate fluid, one of the components of semen. ... During ejaculation, millions of sperm move from the testes through tubes called the vas deferens into the area of the prostate.

[The role of seminal vesicles in male reproduction and sexual function]. ... Seminal vesicle secretion is important for semen coagulation and may promote sperm motility, increase stability of sperm chromatin, and suppress the immune activity in the female reproductive tract.

The role of both seminal vesicle and prostate gland is the secretion of alkaline fluid in the semen during ejaculation and provide nutrition to the sperm cells. Some of the differences includes:
1. The fluid from seminal vesicle contributes more to the semen than fluid from prostrate gland.
2. The alkalinity of semen is primarily by seminal vesicle fluid, then by prostrate gland fluid.
3. Fluid from seminal vesicle has more fructose concentration than fluid from prostrate.
4. Prostatic fluid is released in the first ejaculate fractions, together with most of the spermatozoa while as few spermatozoa are expelled with seminal vesicle fluid.
