The souls of the shoes and tyres are build in such a way that their coefficient of friction is high. This is done to increase the friction between the ‘shoe and the floor’.

Explanation:

Otherwise the chance of slipping would be high. Similarly in tyres is there was no friction, then there would be no function of the brakes.

And the car would move for a longer distance after the brakes are applied. Hence the ‘coefficient of friction’ is higher for this two types of substances..
