The role of acid in our stomach is to kill the bacteria which has entered with the food and to activate pepsin which will act on proteins to convert it into amino acids
It will be proteins into proteoses and peptones
at last it will be amino acids
At last it will be but when reacting with pepsin it will convert into proteoses and peptones

Stomach contains gastric juice which contains HCL. HCL kills bacteria and makes food acidic medium.
