the role of the letter is very important int he story the letter....the whole story is revolved around the letter...ali keeps waiting for the letter every day and night.. ...and the post master called him a pest..but when the post master himself did not get the letter from his daughter he realised how ali might have felt...in the end ali dies waiting for the letter and the post master came to realise his mistake through the letter....so it is a very important part of the story..

In the fiction"The Letter" the Letter played a great role, actually the whole story is based upon the Letter .
As , when his daughter left her and married from that time he was waiting for his daughter's Letter , it was the only reason for which Ali moves to the post office daily, just for receiving the Letter.
