The adult human skeletal system consists of 206 bones, as well as a network of tendons, ligaments and cartilage that connects them. The skeletal system performs vital functions — support, movement, protection, blood cell production, calcium storage and endocrine regulation — that enable us to survive.

Our Skeleton system provides us with the following benefits:

  1. Movement - It is the most important characteristic of living beings. If movement is not there, then we would have been stable all the time.
  2. Support - Without support, we can do nothing. Skeleton has its basic feature as support.
  3. Protection - Skeleton helps to protect delicate organs like heart which lie under the protection of rib cage.
  4. Shape and size - The skeleton gives us a proper shape and size.
