In an electric motor the split rings commutator is used to reverse the direction of the current.

The split ring is used in electrical motor to allow the coil to roatted full by changing the direction of current throughout the coli
Because if it no so after half rotation the left and the right arms of the coil will change their position and if the direction of current is same as before the half rotation then then coil will mat have a complete rotation it will keep rotation half only .
