Cavities are caused due to the bacteria and the acids produced by them. When we use tooth paste it contains base. Acid and base reacts and neutralization reaction takes place.
So the acids are removed completely.

cavities are brought by different food materially they remain in the teeth and produce food for them. Toothpaste remove the remaining particles and form a layer that don't allow the cavities to be in the tooth.
