XML is used to store data in structural form so that it can be managed easily later on.
HTML defines the overall layout of the page , ie. which element should be displayed on the webpage.
When there are large amounts of data or text in a webpage and u write all of them inside the html file it will become cumbersome later on to manage the data.
It will be quite difficult to change or update them.
when u use XML u store them seperately and can easily change or replace them according to your wish. Thus XML is used.
