they are external feature of plants which grow from the radical of a germination seed and is positively geotropic i.e grows towards the gravity. it is henerally found below the soil .
FUNCTION-
1) absorb water an minerals
2) provides proper anchorage to plant.
3) helps in storage of food

there are three types of roots:-
1) tap roots
2) fibrous roots
