A red blood cell (erythrocyte), is in theshape of a disk whichis thinner at the center. It is 2.5 micrometers (10^-6 m) thick at the edge, and more or less 0.8 micrometers in the centre. From the top it looks like a circe and it is approximately 7.8 micrometers in diameter. The size of erythrocytes is relatively consistent from one cell to an other, therefore they can be used like a “measuring stick” in microscopes slides, to estimate relative sizes.Erythrocytes have a unique shape and andcompose 49% of the blood, making them really easy to spot under the microscopes

the shape of an RBC (red blood cell) is round and biconcave ( concave from both sides)
it is so because, red blood cells need to be transported from very thin nerves all around the body so it is smooth in order to pass through nerves.
