The SI unit of kinematic viscosity is m2/s, whereas the cgs unit for kinematic viscosity is the stokes (St), named after Sir George Gabriel Stokes. It is sometimes expressed in terms of centistokes (cSt).

It is commonly expressed, particularly in ASTM standards, as centipoise (cP) since the latter is equal to the SI multiple millipascal seconds (mPa. s). The SI unit of kinematic viscosity is m2/s, whereas the cgs unit for kinematic viscosity is the stokes (St), named after Sir George Gabriel Stokes.
