what is the si unit of weight. why we say kg for weight of body instead if Newton.

SI unit of WEIGHT is NEWTON,,

because, since weight depends on gravity and mass , therefore , it is defined as

W= m×g= kgms^-2=NEWTON

hence weight is called as newton..
