NAM and SAARC

Explanation:

 NAM was formed during the cold war due to the initiative of Indian Prime minister Jawahar Lal Nehru  and  Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito.

It is organisation of states that did not want to align themselves with either the Soviet Union and United States but wanted to stay neutral. It was formed on September 1961 at Belgrade in Serbia. At the time of  its formation the group had 25 members while today there are more than 120 members and 17 observers

NAM has an important role to play  in the destruction of neo-colonialism, division of the world into influence spheres, a new international order based on equality, peace and justice.

SAARC was formed on December 8, 1985 at Dhaka in Bangladesh. Its full form is South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are its member states.

SAARC seeks to strengthen collective self -reliance, Strengthen Collective reliance, Promote mutual assistance and active collaboration in different fields and cooperate with international and regional organisations.
