The negative sign in equation simply means that the energy for electron bound to the nucleus is lower than it would be if the electrons were at the infinite distance from the nucleus.

bohr's energy of hydrogen = - 13.6 (z^2/n^2)
here ( - ) sign indicate that force is attractive because we know ,
dU/dx=-F
hence energy is related to force , which is directly proportional to force.
we can say that in nucleus of hydrogen atom electron revolve around the nucleus and held by electrostatic force of attraction.
