What is the significance of the fact that human tracheal cartilage rings are incomplete posteriorly? Why is tracheal epithelium is said to be stratified?

On the posterior part oesophagus is present behind trachea .So when bolus go through oesophagus it allows to flatten the oesophagus into some part of trachea.Again trachea has pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium whose function is secretion and absorption .
