Skeletal muscle tissue consists of many specialised cells called myocytes. Each myocyte consists of many tubular threads called myofibrils. Each myofibril consists of repeat contractile units called sarcomeres. Each sarcomere consists of a thick filament myosin and a thin filament actin.
