The standard meridian of India is the 82.5º east longitude which passes through Allahabad. This is five and a half hours ahead of 0º meridian (Greenwich). The fun fact is, that the 82.5º east meridian wasn't chosen to be the Indian Standard Time till 1905 ,and came into force only in the year 1906.
