hai friend,

here is your answer,

We know a relationship

y= mx + c

1)ax -by +c =0

-by = -ax -c
y =a/b x + c/b

m=a/b

2)-y=3/8x+1/16

y = -3/8x -1/16

m= -3 /8

the slopes :-
1)ax - by+c =0 ;m =a/b

2)-y=3/8x+1/16 ;m= -3/8
hope helped :)

mysticd: slope of a line ax+by+c=0 is m
mysticd: m= -a/b

slope (m) of a line ax + by +c =0 is  -a/b

i) given equation ax -by+c =0

m= - (a)/ (-b) = a/b

ii) given -y = 3/8x+1/16
write it in standard form
3/8x+y +1/16 =0

slope =m = -(3/8)/1 = -3/8

mysticd: u'r welcome
