What is the slope of the line represented by the equation y = x – 3?

Solution:

The equation of given line is → y = x - 3

As equation of line having Y intercept 'c' and  having slope 'm' is given by the equation: ⇒y = m x + c -------(1)

The line , y = x -3, can be written as → y = 1 . x - 3------(2)

Comparing line (2) with line (1), we can find value of m i.e slope.

We get , m =1

As we can find slope graphically.

Tan A = 1

Tan A = Tan 45°

A = 45°
