Aluminum Sulfate produces Sulfuric acid and aluminum hydroxide when reacts with water. It is usually soluble in water and the above reaction is the product of Aluminum Sulfate's reaction with boiling water.

The reaction goes as follows.

Al2(SO4)3 + 6H2O → 2Al(OH)3 + 3H2SO4

The solubility of aluminum sulfate in water varies according on the temperature of the water.

It has been found that 31.2 gram of Aluminum sulfate can soluble in 100 ml of water in zero degree Celsius.  36.4 gram per 100 ml in 20 degree Celsius and 89.0 gram per 100 ml in 100 degree Celsius respectively.

It has also been found that aluminum sulfate is slightly soluble in alcohol and diluted mineral acids.
