We have to use elimination method

5x + 2y = 29                     ----> [ 1 ]
 
  x + 4y = 13                      ----> [ 2 ] 

Multiplying equation [ 1 ] with 2

10x + 4y  = 58                  -----> [ 3 ]

Subtracting equation 2 from 3 

             10x + 4y  = 58 
              x + 4y = 13    
----------------------------------------------
             9 x  = 45

x = 45/9

x = 5

x + 4y = 13

5 + 4y = 13

4y = 13-5

4y = 8

y = 2
