sound is produced by vibrating objects. It is a type of energy which is produced by source and reaches the audience(listner) in the form of longitudinal waves through the medium. when an object vibrates ,it also makes the particles of the medium around it vibratory. If itself does not reaches by motion.At 1st particles of medium present in contract with vibrating objects gets displaced from its balanced state due to disturbance. They exert a type of force on the near by particles as a result of which the near by particles get displaced from their state of rest. After displacing the near by particles,the initial particles return to their original states. This process takes place in the medium till sound does not reach our ears. Disturbance in the medium caused by sound in the medium gets transmitted.
