The answer is S-phase.
Interphase which is the non-dividing phase of Mitosis has three substages -
G1 Phase
S Phase
G2 Phase
Here, In the S-phase...replication of DNA and synthesis of histones is completed. As a result, each chromosome has two chromatids which are thread like and are joined by a centromere.
