People don't read words one letter at a time. They recognize entire words at once.
Readers are used to reading serif fonts. What you read most often is easiest for you to read.Too-small fonts are hard to read, like especially for older people or people who don't read much.Too-large fonts can be used for children's book.Depending upon the target audience, fonts like Times Roman look best in 11 or 12 point and wider fonts usually 10 or 11 points looks better.Large printing books can go upto 14 point.
