Brainly was founded by Michał Borkowski (CEO), Tomasz Kraus and Łukasz Haluch in Poland in 2009, with an initial name Zadane.pl.
In the first 6 months of the release of the project, there were already around a million users achieved by the company.
Around 2011, the name was changed to Brainly. Gradually, in 2 or 3 years, it was made available in 11 different languages to the world. Just before 2014, Point Nine Capital was funding the organisation as their first investors.
Following this, more investors began to come over and gradually the company had a total investment of $9 million and decided to open a US based headquarter in New York.
By October 2017, the total funds raised by the company is $38.5 million.
In January 2018, Brainly announced it had acquired the video education start-up, Bask, to bring video technology to the Brainly platform.
